Learn Scrum from those who created and maintain It
Professional Scrum MasterTM (PSM) is a 2-day Scrum.org certified course that covers the principles and (empirical) process theory underpinning the Scrum framework, and the role of the Scrum Master in it. This course is a combination of instruction and team-based exercises, and teaches what is at the heart of the Scrum and Agile movement.

What you will learn during the PSM course
Over the 2 days, students will see why PSM is the cutting-edge course for effective Scrum Masters and for anyone coaching a team toward increased efficiency and effectiveness. The course includes advanced thinking for servant-leadership and behavioral shifts.
Throughout the course, students are challenged to think in terms of the Scrum principles to better understand what to do when returning to the workplace.
The PSM course is much more than just a set of slides and an instructor. In this course, students work on real-life cases with other classmates together as a team. This course is made up of discussions and hands-on exercises based upon real-life cases.

Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification
All participants completing the Professional Scrum Master course will receive a password to attempt the Scrum.org Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) assessment. But do you attempt the PSM I assessment within 14 days after the course and you score less than 85%? Then you get a 2nd attempt for free. And as a student of the PSM course you also get a discount on the PSM II and PSM III assessments.
Since this assessment will be in English, participating in my English training course will help you prepare for the assessment in the best way possible.
What our former students say
“The course was given in an extremely professional way both on the material that was taught, the way it was taught and time management. All Scrum principles were explained in a very clear way using multiple examples from the daily routine of a Scrum Master. Matthijs was very knowledgeable in the agile world in general and in the Scrum world in particular and although I already practiced Scrum for a few years as a Scrum Master, the amount of knowledge I gained in those few days is priceless. Furthermore, Matthijs is a great person who teaches the material in a very positive and friendly environment which gave me as a student lots of motivation to explore more in the agile world.”
Moti Geva – Director Project Management at Comscore
Matthijs was engaged to provide Scrum Master and Product Owner training for Dutch Central Bank where my role was Senior Agile Coach. Matthijs demonstrated a high level of flexibility and creativity and was able to engage the attendees by running the training like an agile project. A lot of very colourful posters were giving the training a distinct “Matthijs” flavour. Matthijs has a lot of real-life experience and knows in depth where the real challenges in agile adoption exist. Matthijs provided excellent demonstrations and cases for the training. We were solving real problems and dealing with day-to-day issues. That made the training really “stick” with the audience.
Davorka Ruskac – Senior Agile Coach
Our Scrum.org PSM trainers
My mission: inspiring others to discover new ways of working.
I have provided 100+ training courses and workshops in the fields of Scrum, Agile Product Development, and Kanban. Over the years, I have advised and coached organizations within various industries from banking to healthcare. Before becoming an external consultant, trainer, and coach, I have been 5+ years part of different Scrum Teams. During that time I have been a Developer, Product Owner, and Scrum Master.
As an official Scrum.org licensed Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) I am trusted by the creators of Scrum and to create the best possible foundation you can build on in practice.
Organizations hire me to help them to find better ways of working that lead to improvements in business agility and an increase in the delivery of business value.
Before I became a Scrum Master, I have been a software developer for over fifteen years. After that I have been working as a business analyst for over ten years. During those years I realized we can’t predict the future. We can try and expect that things will go as planned, but mostly they don’t. So when you make a plan, take into account that everything can change and that a Sense and Respond way of acting works much better and is actually a natural way of working.
It is my passion to help people and organizations (re)learn this natural way of working. I do that by coaching people on the job, and as a Professional Scrum Trainer (PST) at Scrum.org by teaching (aspiring) Scrum Masters how they can help other people discover this natural way of working again.
Class room experience
Our training courses are characterized by minimizing use of Powerpoint slides. Instead, we maximize the use of visualizations on flip charts. Static Powerpoint presentations often force a class to adapt their learning to the way the slidedeck was developed. In our approach, we let go of these static slidedecks. This enables us to adapt content we are sharing to the conversation that is actually taking place. We have received great feedback on how our use of a flexible drawing style contributed to an outstanding learning experience. These visualizations will help you recollect the lessons learned through the exercises we did, the conversations we had, and your reflections throughout the training course.
Small class sizes
Our training courses have a maximum of 10 students. This has the following benefits for you:
- A more personal experience for you as a student
- Contributes to an environment of trust and openness
- Easier for everyone to feel comfortable
- More space to bring in your own challenges from your workplace
- More space to learn from the experience of the other students
